Diamond Naturals is the value line from Diamond Pet Foods, a family-owned Missouri manufacturer that also produces several other brands. It is the least expensive brand on this page's roster: the eleven featured dry foods run from $1.07 to $1.86 per pound, with large bags topping out around $88 to $110.
The lineup covers the standard life stages, from large breed puppy lamb and rice to a senior chicken, egg, and oatmeal formula, with protein between 23 and 27 percent. At this price tier, the daily cost for a mid-size dog often lands under what a single premium cup would cost.
To get exact numbers, use the calculator above: it computes daily portions and cost for each Diamond Naturals food based on your dog's breed, weight, age, and activity.
About Diamond Naturals
Diamond Naturals is a brand of Diamond Pet Foods, the pet food business of Schell and Kampeter Inc. The company was founded in 1970, when brothers-in-law Gary Schell and Richard Kampeter bought a small milling operation in Meta, Missouri. It is still family-owned and is now run by the second generation of the Schell and Kampeter families.
Diamond makes its food in company-owned US plants. Alongside the original Meta, Missouri site, the company lists facilities in Lathrop and Ripon, California; Gaston, South Carolina; Dumas, Arkansas; Frontenac, Kansas; and Rushville, Indiana.
Diamond Naturals dry dog food covers life stages and breed sizes, from puppy and senior recipes to small and large breed formulas, plus targeted recipes such as Skin and Coat. There is also a Diamond Naturals Grain-Free sub-line, and the wider Diamond family includes the original Diamond line and Diamond CARE. In its marketing the brand emphasizes real meat, superfood ingredients and its proprietary K9 Strain Probiotics, which are added to every Diamond Naturals dry formula after cooking, all positioned as premium nutrition at an affordable price.
