A grain-inclusive dry kibble formulated for puppies. Chicken leads the recipe, with chicken meal, pea protein, and soybean meal contributing additional protein. Brown rice, whole grain wheat, whole grain corn, and whole grain oats supply the carbohydrate base. Chicken fat, soybean oil, flaxseed, and added fish oil contribute fat and provide DHA (0.062% on a dry-matter basis) for brain and eye development. The recipe also includes pressed cranberries, dried citrus pulp, taurine, L-threonine, L-tryptophan, and a full vitamin and mineral premix. Animal feeding tests conducted using AAFCO procedures substantiate that the recipe provides complete and balanced nutrition for growth of puppies and gestation/lactation of adult dogs. Caloric density is 3747 kcal/kg, or roughly 393 kcal per cup.
